TUTORING PASTELS WITH ACKLINGTON ART GROUP

I've just spent a very memorable day tutoring  the wonderfully talented artists at Acklington Art Group.  Some had worked with pastels before and others were beginners and it was an absolute joy working with them.  The paintings they produced were stunning and I hope you enjoy viewing them.  We all left feeling inspired and eager to experiment with different pastels, papers and subject matter.  Thank you ladies...it was great fun x

'JACOB'

From the 23rd-25th July my painting of 'Jacob' is going to be exhibited at the All About Art Show at the Business Design Centre in London.  I am thrilled to have been awarded a prize within this year's Animal/Wildlife category in a competition run the Society For All Artists.

TUTORING AT COQUETDALE ARTS CENTRE, ROTHBURY

I shall next be tutoring at the Arts Centre on:-

Saturday 10th October for Portraiture - charcoal/pastels
Tuesday 3rd November for Animals - pastels.

A huge thanks to Brian Moon and his wonderful Tuesday class, as I had a brilliant day there yesterday and the enthusiasm and standard of work produced by everyone was once again extremely impressive.  Many thanks to you all for such an enjoyable day.

ELLA

I've just bought some Velour pastel paper and have been experimenting with it.  The soft, smooth surface takes a bit of getting used to, but the colours go down beautifully and I find I can get a lot of depth and detail without having to add too many layers.  I am really impressed with the effects that can be achieved with this paper.

Master Copy 'A Muse' - after Rosalba Carriera circa 1725

I still love to hone my drawing skills by doing Master copies - and this is a sketch of one of my all time favourites.  In her works Rosalba Carriera used exquisite blending of pastels, intimate compositions and the incorporation of mythological symbols characterise her portraiture.

Tutoring at Coquetdale Arts Centre

I had the most wonderful day at Coquetdale Arts Centre tutoring for portraiture with the nicest group of people who, despite telling me that they had never done portraits before, all went on to produce amazingly good work with huge amounts of enthusiasm and good humour.  I am full of admiration for them and for helping to make my first day of teaching such a pleasure.
